Major updates are coming to OF-G software this fall. This post addresses the Insider Bars order flow product line.
A Subscriber Asks: Why do you use 1440 minute charts with Insider Bars?
A chart of 1440 minutes equates to one day, 24 hours x 60 minutes per hour. So a 1440 minute chart is an alternative to using a daily chart.
The reason we do not use daily charts for Insider Bars is that the real-time volume data on TradeStation daily charts is different than on minute, second, tick and volume charts. It includes late prints, spread trades and various other things which would be noisy on intraday charts. Continue reading “Using 1440 Minute Charts with Insider Bars (Updated 2-5-2020)”
I am always urging OF-G software subscribers to try graphic depictions of order flow data, rather than old school numeric or textual displays. And there is a reason for this: Our brains are much more efficient at processing pictures and shapes than at processing text. Here is a quote from the article, Humans Process Visual Data Better:
“Visualization works from a human perspective because we respond to and process visual data better than any other type of data. In fact, the human brain processes images 60,000 times faster than text…”

One of the most important building blocks for understanding market action is the idea of discrete market analysis. By this I am referring to analysis derived from discrete tools (as opposed to continuous tools.)
Discrete data can be counted.
Continuous data must be measured.
There are a number of instances where you may wish to transfer your settings. For example,
- If you would like to replicate a chart for a second symbol
- If you are switching from the Insider Bars product to the OF-G Suite product on the TradingApp Store, or vice versa (Different products use different indicator names.)
- If you are switching from a TradingApp Store subscription to an ELD subscription (Here also, different indicator names are employed.)
Insider Bars (and all the OF-G products) have a lot of settings. Manually recreating your chart would be a long and tedious process. Fortunately, there is an easy way to transfer your settings automatically. Continue reading “Transferring Insider Bars Settings the Easy Way (Video)”
This post will explain new features coming to Insider Bars this month. Subscribers to Insider Bars and OF-G Suite should receive this update in the next few days. Please note that OF-G’s software update schedule has changed in 2019. For more information, see this post.
The three big updates this month are all on the Insider Bars B indicator. Please review the following:
Volume Profile Under Price Bars
The histogram option shows relative volume at each price or Auction Point as horizontal histograms:
Volume Markers work like traditional Bull-Bear Markers, but instead of highlighting extreme bullish or extreme bearish price action, they highlight two tiers of high volume Auction Points.
Bull-Bear Markers allows you to only highlight Auction Points where volume is very skewed to bulls or to bears. This example highlights price points where 75% of volume is bullish (blue) or bearish (red).
